Descrizione del lavoro
Role overview
This position is based in the Person Centred Wing within Longford Services. The successful candidate will support an individual in shaping and living a meaningful life through person-centred practice, with close attention to personal interests, abilities, choices, and preferences.
The role is offered with various contract hours and covers both residential and day service settings. It calls for a motivated, positive, imaginative, and energetic support worker who can help adults with intellectual disabilities pursue a life that reflects what matters to them.
The work involves helping people build strong links in their local community, explore new experiences, and develop genuine relationships. The ideal applicant should have a demonstrated ability to support people into valued social roles, along with experience working with communication needs and supporting behaviours of concern. Experience with person-centred planning and individualized, person-directed support approaches is also important.
The service also notes a specific individual preference: the person being supported enjoys country music and social outings, and is looking for a supportive worker who is energetic and encouraging in daily life.
Work pattern and conditions
Candidates must be available for any day shifts and sleepover shifts. Staff also need to be comfortable working independently in residents’ homes. The role may require rostered work across different houses and locations.
Essential requirements
- QQI/FETAC Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare, or an equivalent qualification such as Health Service Skills or Healthcare Support; candidates may also be willing to complete a relevant QQI Level 5 Major Award.
- Confidence to take initiative and organise work effectively.
- Previous experience or practical knowledge of supporting people with a variety of support needs.
- Full licence to drive a manual vehicle in Ireland.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Creativity, self-motivation, and a proactive approach.
- Flexibility to work across multiple homes or service locations as required.
- Personal suitability for the role as described in the job introduction.
