Strategic Program/Project Manager

Role overview

This position partners with the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and executive leaders to turn high-level priorities into well-structured delivery plans. The focus is on managing large, visible initiatives across complex cross-functional settings, including IT work, system integrations, infrastructure spending, and transformation programs.

The role calls for disciplined governance, solid financial oversight, vendor coordination, and clear communication with senior stakeholders to keep strategic objectives on track.

Program and project execution

• Own the day-to-day delivery of major programs with multiple workstreams and executive or board-level sponsorship.
• Convert strategic goals into actionable plans with milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
• Keep related initiatives aligned so workstreams move forward in a coordinated way.

Governance and risk management

• Set up and maintain governance structures covering risks, issues, dependencies, and escalation routes.
• Work in line with EPMO standards, methods, and best practices.
• Track overall program health and step in early to reduce or remove risks.

Financial management

• Handle program financials such as ROM estimates, budgets, forecasts, and variance reviews.
• Monitor capital spend and keep it aligned to financial targets.
• Share financial analysis and updates with executive stakeholders.

Executive communication and reporting

• Create status reports, dashboards, KPI views, and briefing packs for leadership.
• Present updates to senior executives and board-level stakeholders.
• Provide steady communication on progress, risks, and outcomes.

Vendor and stakeholder management

• Coordinate third-party vendors, consultants, and system integrators.
• Make sure delivery stays within scope, timeline, budget, and quality expectations.
• Support collaboration among IT, clinical, operations, and finance teams.

Change management and transformation

• Assist with change management, readiness planning, and user adoption efforts.
• Build alignment and engagement across business units affected by the change.
• Help deliver enterprise transformation initiatives successfully.

Required qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a similar discipline.
• PMP certification is mandatory.
• At least 7 years of experience leading programs or projects for large, complex initiatives.
• Background in an EPMO or similarly structured governance environment.
• Proven experience managing budgets, financial tracking, and capital programs.
• Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, including executive-level presentation ability.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in healthcare systems, academic medical centers, or regulated settings.
• Familiarity with EPMO frameworks, governance models, and KPI-based reporting.
• Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, system integrations, or enterprise transformation work.
• Experience running IT programs, infrastructure projects, or digital transformation initiatives.
• Comfort working independently, handling ambiguity, and delivering in fast-moving environments.

Compensation

Hourly pay is listed at $90 to $110.
