Descrizione del lavoro
Team Overview
You will be part of the paint team and report to the Team Lead - Paint. This team sits within the wider production group, alongside the Weld Shop, Prototype Shop, Assembly Teams, and Armour Shop.
Role Summary
Rheinmetall Defence Australia is hiring several skilled industrial painters across 2026 and beyond, with a strong emphasis on afternoon-shift coverage as production grows. In this role, you will work collaboratively to prepare, coat, and finish military vehicles and related components.
Available roster options include a day shift from 6:00am to 3:00pm and an afternoon shift from 3:00pm to 11:00pm. All new starters begin on the day shift for induction, training, and compliance purposes, then move to the afternoon roster after training if they wish to do so.
Qualifications and Fit
The company is seeking people who demonstrate its SPORT values: Safety, Partnering, Openness, Respect, and Trust. These values shape a workplace where colleagues support one another, keep commitments, and communicate transparently.
Ideal applicants will have a Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application or a Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology, along with prior experience in vehicle, defence, or other heavy-industry painting roles. A solid understanding of paint systems and standards used in vehicle finishing is also important.
Availability to work the afternoon shift is required. Heavy vehicle driving and operating licences are an advantage, as are high-risk work licences such as crane operation, forklift, and elevated work platform operation.
Applicants must be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance, which requires Australian Citizenship.
Benefits
The role comes with uniforms, tools, and training supplied by the employer. Employees also enjoy a 9-day fortnight, meaning long weekends every second week, plus a 20% afternoon shift loading. Additional benefits include access to employee discounts from more than 500 retailers, market-leading parental leave, loyalty leave accrued for each year of service, and the opportunity to join an organisation recognised as an Endorsed Employer for All Women with WORK180.
