Role overview

Viory is looking for a driven and proactive Social Media Editor to join its Abu Dhabi team. The role is centered on identifying high-potential stories, shaping them into platform-ready content, and helping amplify voices from the Global South for an international audience.

This position requires strong experience with social networks, broad knowledge of the multimedia environment, and a genuine interest in fast-moving viral news. A solid understanding of the Global South as a geographical, geopolitical, historical, and developmental concept is also important, along with awareness of current events connected to that region.

Key responsibilities

• Identify timely stories with strong viral potential before competitors do.
• Assess what makes content spread and use those factors to improve reach.
• Turn complex ideas into clear, engaging, and shareable formats.
• Produce short, impactful copy tailored to audience attention spans.
• Adapt content for platforms such as Twitter, TikTok, and WhatsApp.
• Monitor trends, platform updates, and algorithm changes to refine content strategy.
• Collect stories from a wide range of international sources and reshape them for the audience.
• Verify information carefully to maintain accuracy and authenticity.
• Write strong headlines and supporting text that capture the core of each story.
• Edit and package video clips using post-production techniques for maximum effect.

Requirements

The right candidate should bring the following:

• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, political science, or a similar discipline.
• At least 1 year of relevant professional experience.
• Strong command of Adobe Premiere for video editing.
• Native-level fluency in both Arabic and English.
• Excellent creativity and communication abilities.
