Job purpose
This position is responsible for delivering specialized machinery control engineering support that helps the department achieve its goals and broader company strategy. The role also serves as the subject matter expert and technical authority for machinery control matters.
Key accountabilities
- Provide engineering support for machinery control systems aligned with division objectives, including design reviews, technical studies, failure investigations, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain surveillance and administration programs for critical control systems to support strong reliability, availability, and cybersecurity performance.
- Establish and document technical best practices within the specialty area and propose initiatives that improve performance.
- Act as the subject matter expert and/or technical authority in the designated area of expertise.
- Plan and coordinate work schedules so assigned tasks and activities are completed effectively and section and division KPIs are achieved.
- Offer technical expertise to other disciplines and business functions when needed to support their objectives.
- Oversee and direct the work of contractors, consultants, and service providers.
- Support less experienced engineers in applying the company’s integrity and reliability systems.
- Create competency development plans and mentor national developees to strengthen their skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
Experience and knowledge
- At least 10 years of experience working in an oil and gas environment.
- Hands-on experience with turbomachinery control applications such as GE, CCC, or Triconex.
- Strong understanding of relevant international standards, including IEC, ANSI/ISA, and API RP, and how they are applied.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential.
- Must be computer literate and comfortable using a range of engineering software tools.
