Role purpose
This position sits within the IT Operations infrastructure function and is responsible for treating core technology services as a product aligned to business priorities. The role includes ownership of planning, design, implementation, maintenance, budgeting, and team leadership for the foundational IT environment. It also covers business-as-usual infrastructure operations and delivery of initiatives such as new services, mergers and acquisitions, cloud transitions, equipment refreshes, and ongoing support of existing applications and server environments.
Key responsibilities
- Build long-term infrastructure roadmaps that support scale, resilience, and business objectives.
- Oversee cloud services, software, licenses, networks, servers, storage, databases, and security tools across the global environment and SaaS platforms.
- Drive security and compliance controls, including firewall management, breach monitoring, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Lead and coach the infrastructure team, coordinate with other departments, support performance reviews, set goals, and ensure 24/7 on-call and support coverage.
- Own end-user computing strategy as a product, focusing on user experience, workforce flexibility, and productivity improvements.
- Manage infrastructure budgets, monitor KPIs, and optimize service and system performance.
- Plan and deliver infrastructure projects from scoping and scheduling to staffing and implementation.
- Maintain a strong focus on uptime, data protection, scalability, and clear translation of technical needs into business language.
Essential experience and skills
- Strong hands-on knowledge of cloud and hybrid environments, including AWS, Azure, SharePoint, Windows, Linux, M365, Entra ID, AD sync, and business continuity/DR testing.
- Practical experience with AWS services such as Control Tower, Landing Zone, EC2, Backup, VPC, Transit Gateway, S3, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch.
- Automation and scripting capability using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Python.
- Solid grounding in infrastructure fundamentals such as networking, servers, storage, and backups.
- Experience with security hardening, vulnerability management, access control, monthly patching, MFA, and Conditional Access.
- Ability to lead technical teams, act as an escalation point, and guide problem analysis through to resolution.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder coordination and reporting to senior leadership.
- Working knowledge of ITIL-based service management, SLAs, and KPI delivery.
- Monitoring experience including synthetic monitoring and real user monitoring.
- Understanding of Microsoft licensing models.
- Exposure to database platforms such as MS SQL and AWS Postgres.
- Experience working with formal change management processes.
Qualifications
The role requires at least 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems, or network-related roles. Relevant certifications mentioned include AWS Solutions Architect, CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator, and CCNA. A B.Tech / B.E. in any specialization is listed as the preferred educational background.
