Senior Architect / Project Manager

Role summary

This opportunity is for a senior architectural professional to steer intricate, high-end projects from early concept through design development, authority approvals, technical coordination, and final delivery. The position sits within an engineering consultancy setting and calls for someone who can balance design direction, project control, BIM coordination, and stakeholder management.

The work is focused on prestigious and technically demanding developments such as high-rise buildings, hospitality projects, mixed-use schemes, luxury developments, and large-scale commercial work. A solid architectural foundation, familiarity with Saudi regulations, and the confidence to lead multidisciplinary teams are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Direct architectural projects from concept design through tender package and construction documentation stages.
• Serve as the central point of coordination among clients, internal design teams, subconsultants, and relevant authorities.
• Handle scope, deliverables, schedules, technical quality, and workflow coordination across the project.
• Spot design risks, approval risks, and coordination conflicts early and recommend workable solutions.
• Run project meetings, issue progress updates, and ensure action items are tracked through completion.
• Make sure deliverables align with client expectations, contractual duties, and internal quality standards.
• Lead the preparation of architectural design packages for complex, premium developments.
• Review and refine design concepts, space planning, facade strategies, and technical detailing.
• Ensure drawings and documentation are accurate, coordinated, and suitable for construction.
• Coordinate architectural work with structural, MEP, fire/life safety, landscape, interior design, facade, and specialist consultants.
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules, BIM models, reports, and submissions before release.
• Ensure compliance with the Saudi Building Code, municipal rules, Civil Defence requirements, accessibility standards, and other local regulations.
• Lead BIM-driven coordination with internal teams, consultants, and subconsultants.
• Check architectural BIM models for quality, coordination, and project compliance.
• Manage clash detection, model reviews, drawing extraction, and integration across disciplines.
• Ensure BIM outputs follow project standards, client requirements, and consultant workflows.
• Work with BIM managers, BIM coordinators, and discipline leads to resolve design issues.
• Communicate professionally with clients, developers, project managers, contractors, authorities, and consultants.
• Support authority submission work and respond to technical comments.
• Represent the company in coordination meetings, client workshops, and technical review sessions.
• Prepare clear English-language meeting minutes, reports, technical responses, and presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from a recognized university.
• At least 10 years of total architectural experience is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Saudi Arabia.
• Minimum 5 years in an engineering consultancy environment.
• Background in high-end, complex developments such as luxury projects, hospitality, mixed-use schemes, towers, or large commercial buildings.
• Experience with high-rise projects in consultancy or design consultancy firms.
• Strong architectural design capability with advanced technical detailing and coordination skills.
• Good knowledge of the Saudi Building Code, municipal processes, Balady procedures, Civil Defence rules, and local approval pathways.
• Strong BIM proficiency, ideally using Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, and similar tools.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams across structural, MEP, fire/life safety, facade, interior design, landscape, and specialist disciplines.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Arabic is helpful.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to start immediately or after a short notice period.
• Master’s degree in Architecture, Project Management, Engineering Management, or a related area is preferred.
• PMP, RIBA, AIA, CIOB, or an equivalent certification is an added advantage.
• Exposure to luxury hospitality, branded residences, high-rise towers, complex mixed-use developments, or landmark projects in Saudi Arabia is preferred.
• Understanding of delivery phases, design management, tender documentation, value engineering, and construction-stage support is preferred.
• Prior work with major developers, international consultants, or large multidisciplinary design teams is preferred.
• Advanced Revit Architecture skills.
• Advanced AutoCAD skills.
• Working knowledge of Navisworks and BIM coordination tools.
• Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360.
• Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Enscape, Lumion, or similar presentation tools is an advantage.
• Strong design judgment and architectural sensitivity.
• Excellent technical coordination ability.
• Solid understanding of buildability and construction documentation.
• Ability to handle pressure, deadlines, and multiple stakeholders.
• Clear, confident communication and a hands-on leadership style.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to raise design issues early and prevent coordination problems before construction.
