Role overview
This opening is for a Security Officer at a cloud-based data centre in Winchester, UK. The site has a long history of research, development, and innovation dating back to the 1950s, and it supports customers by providing a protected environment for software testing, proof-of-concept work, proof-of-technology development, and collaboration on best practices. In this position, you will help keep employees, visitors, contractors, property, and sensitive information safe while presenting a professional image and delivering strong customer service.
The role pays £13.45 per hour and is scheduled for 42 hours on a 4-on, 4-off night rotation. An SIA licence is required. From day one, you will have access to learning and development support, mentorship, and a wide range of benefits.
Key duties
You will be responsible for maintaining security across the site by following assignment instructions and local procedures. The role calls for constant alertness, prompt incident response, and consistent enforcement of security standards.
- Protect people, assets, and the site through patrols, CCTV monitoring, and access control.
- Follow assignment instructions and keep clear, accurate incident records.
- Apply site safety and security rules in a professional manner.
- Support health and safety by reporting hazards, assisting with evacuations, and responding to alarms.
- Help reduce loss, theft, and damage by reporting suspicious behaviour.
- Use security equipment appropriately and follow stop-and-search procedures where required.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a neat, professional appearance.
- Answer calls, assist visitors, and manage shift handovers smoothly.
- Support management and demonstrate the company values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
Requirements
The employer is seeking someone with a valid SIA licence in progress, the right to work in the UK, and a minimum age of 18. Applicants must also have no criminal convictions and be able to provide a five-year checkable work history.
- Working toward a valid SIA licence.
- UK driving licence is essential; access to transport is desirable.
- At least 2 years of security officer experience.
- Ability to obtain SC clearance.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work alone or as part of a team.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends.
- First Aid qualification.
