Role overview
Lift New Rickstones in Witham, Essex is seeking a School Facilities Manager to help keep the academy site safe, secure, well maintained and ready for daily use. This is a permanent, full-time post based at Conrad Road, Witham, CM8 2SD, United Kingdom.
The school is graded Good (November 2023) and operates from a modern building with excellent facilities for students and staff. Over the past eight years, pupil numbers have more than doubled, and the academy has expanded further to meet demand. The school is known locally as a popular and oversubscribed choice, with strong staff retention and a culture that values professional growth through an established CPD programme.
The salary range for the position is £28,598 to £31,022, along with a well-being cash plan, pension scheme (LGPS), and other benefits offered by Lift Schools.
Working pattern and start date
This role is for 37 hours per week across 52.14 weeks per year. The anticipated start is September 2026, or earlier if available.
What the role involves
You will take ownership of the academy’s day-to-day site presentation, upkeep and security, making sure the environment remains fit for purpose for students, staff and visitors. The role includes both indoor and outdoor duties and requires a practical, proactive approach to solving problems.
- Support the management of premises, facilities, site and building matters.
- Carry out minor repairs and routine maintenance where needed.
- Oversee health and safety, security and site compliance expectations.
- Help coordinate planned maintenance and monitor external contractors.
- Prioritise workloads and respond effectively to day-to-day issues.
- Work collaboratively with staff, contractors and visitors while maintaining a professional manner.
- Contribute to safeguarding and the creation of a safe, positive school environment.

- Previous experience in facilities, premises, site or building management.
- Ability to complete minor repairs and maintenance work.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety, security and compliance requirements.
- Capability to manage site presentation, cleanliness and day-to-day upkeep.
- Confidence in coordinating contractors and planned maintenance activity.
- Willingness to take on indoor and outdoor responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- A proactive mindset and a commitment to safeguarding.
