Scheduler

Role overview

The Scheduler will build, manage, and continuously improve detailed project schedules for construction assignments across both pre-construction and construction stages. The role owns schedule integrity, incorporates input from the project team, and keeps the schedule current while advising the team on performance, insights, observations, and recommendations.

This position is located in Port Hope, Ontario.

Key responsibilities

• Examine contract documents and turn them into practical, realistic project schedules, including early-stage schedules during procurement.
• Partner with the operations group to refine the preliminary master schedule in line with contractual requirements and to map out the sequence of all work activities.
• Help establish the most effective progress-tracking methods and tools for use throughout construction.
• Monitor, evaluate, and trend project progress, then share status updates with the project team.
• Record schedule impacts and support delay analysis activities.
• Explain why schedule changes occur and suggest recovery or workaround plans.
• Prepare a completion report for the project team that summarizes successes, issues, and lessons learned for closeout documentation.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate holds a degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, and brings at least 7 years of experience in a comparable scheduling role. Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project is required, along with experience on multidisciplinary projects and implementing schedule controls within a project environment.

Applicants should understand the full construction lifecycle, including procurement, construction, close-out, equipment, installation, and commissioning. A solid grasp of building construction methods and techniques is also necessary. The role requires the ability to work at a fast pace and manage several assignments at the same time.
