Descrizione del lavoro

Role overview

The Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN), part of A*STAR, is looking for a Research Officer to support high-impact work in inflammation signalling and cancer biology. The role sits within the Laboratory of Inflammation, Epigenetics and Translational Oncology, where the team studies metastasis and treatment resistance in aggressive cancers linked to inflammation. The lab also works on identifying and understanding new oncology targets, including long non-coding RNAs and epigenomic signatures across solid and blood cancers, with the broader goal of enabling more precise cancer treatments.

What you will do

  • Carry out experiments using standard techniques in cell biology and molecular biology.
  • Interpret and analyze results from western blotting, cell-based assays, and molecular cloning work.
  • Plan work independently, manage tasks efficiently, and resolve experimental issues through practical troubleshooting.
  • Support maintenance of mouse colonies and help monitor animal studies.
  • Handle laboratory support activities such as purchasing, stock tracking, biosafety and risk review, and upkeep of equipment.
  • Record experimental methods and results clearly in the lab logbook.
  • Help manage lab inventories and support the onboarding of new team members.
  • Guide trainees, final-year project students, and interns while contributing to a collaborative lab culture.
  • Share research updates and findings during lab meetings.

What the role requires

  • A strong degree in Cancer Biology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience from a wet-lab final-year project and/or 1 to 2 years of relevant research experience.
  • Clear enthusiasm for research, backed by prior research exposure.
  • Practical ability in mammalian cell culture and a range of molecular biology methods.
  • Experience working with mice and performing animal-related procedures.
  • Exposure to spatial transcriptomics, flow cytometry, and modern genomics techniques such as CUT&RUN, ChIP, and RNA-seq will be a plus.
  • Capability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving, multidisciplinary environment.
  • A collaborative mindset, independence, and a careful, detail-oriented approach.

Application notes

Applicants should prepare a cover letter describing their research motivation and relevant experience, along with a curriculum vitae and the names and email addresses of three referees.

Additional information

This position includes both research and laboratory operations support, so the successful candidate is expected to contribute to experimental work, animal work, documentation, lab coordination, and mentoring within the team.
