Recreation Attendant

Role overview

The Recreation Attendant supports guests by creating an enjoyable, safe, and welcoming environment in the recreation area. The role involves helping guests discover, book, and join leisure activities, while also sharing information about facilities and making sure the recreation space stays organized and ready for use.

Key duties

• Invite guests to take part in recreation programs and help with sign-ups, scheduling, and activity registration.
• Set a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere that enhances the guest experience.
• Explain the available recreation spaces, services, and activities to guests.
• Enforce recreation facility rules and safety guidelines to protect guests and members.
• Monitor activity areas and follow local procedures if an emergency arises.
• Identify situations where a guest may not be able to safely participate and escalate concerns to a supervisor or manager.
• Clean, check, and maintain recreation equipment and supplies.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions, and complete required safety training and certifications.
• Follow company standards for conduct, appearance, confidentiality, and asset protection.
• Welcome guests professionally, answer questions courteously, and respond to service needs in a timely manner.
• Assist guests with disabilities and communicate with genuine appreciation and clarity.
• Work well with teammates to support shared goals and maintain positive working relationships.
• Handle payments related to rental equipment, recreation services, facility rentals, or retail items.
• Use computers or point-of-sale systems to record and retrieve work-related information.
• Inspect tools and equipment visually for defects and maintain quality expectations.
• Perform physical tasks that may require standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and working in confined, uneven, or elevated areas.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• No prior work experience required.
• No supervisory background required.
• CPR certification is required.
• First Aid certification is required.
• Certification or training in recreation equipment may be required.
• Any additional licensing, certification, or training required by local or state authorities must be met.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and follow workplace procedures.
• Comfort with guest interaction, basic administrative tasks, and safety-focused duties.
• Capability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the work shift.
