Role overview
Pacific National is seeking a qualified Intermodal Locomotive Driver to join its operations team in Tennyson, Queensland. The role sits within a 24/7 rail operation and involves safely moving critical freight across Australia, including intermodal containers, coal, steel, and bulk commodities.
This position is focused on delivering dependable intermodal services that align with operational schedules and customer expectations.
Key duties
- Run Pacific National locomotives in line with safe-working rules and driver accreditation standards.
- Carry out work on both mainline and terminal operations according to operational needs.
- Coordinate with Train Control to support smooth train movements and on-time running.
- Set up and prepare locomotives, complete system checks, and handle required compliance paperwork.
- Undertake minor maintenance tasks and first-level servicing.
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams and external customers to support operational delivery.
What you need
- You must already be an accredited and fully qualified locomotive driver.
- Applicants should upload their Certificate IV in Train Driving as part of the application.
- Demonstrated experience operating locomotives is required.
- A strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance is essential.
- You should bring a positive, collaborative mindset and be comfortable working independently.
- Basic computer skills are needed.
- A current unrestricted driver’s licence is required.
- The role requires flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, including local and barracks-based work.
