Role overview
This is an opportunity to join a well-established distribution business in Tralee as a Purchasing Administrator. The position focuses on keeping procurement activity running smoothly, with responsibility for supplier coordination, market research, price discussions, and day-to-day buying support. It suits someone who enjoys a busy environment where their work has a direct and visible effect on operations.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and assess suppliers, then negotiate favourable pricing, terms, and delivery arrangements.
- Handle purchasing activity from start to finish, including raising purchase orders and organising inbound freight.
- Act as the key contact for existing vendors and for enquiries relating to new products.
- Work closely with warehouse colleagues to address stock issues, discrepancies, damages, and transfers between sites.
- Use internal systems effectively to improve and simplify purchasing processes.
- Compile accurate procurement and inventory reports for management review.
Requirements
- Three to five years of experience in procurement, buying, or purchasing within a fast-moving environment.
- A qualification in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Accounting.
- Working knowledge of inventory management and confidence using MS Office tools.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good negotiation ability, resilience, problem-solving skills, and clear communication across teams.
