Role overview

AltaLink is hiring a Project Manager for its Operations - Project Development group in Calgary. This full-time permanent position focuses on guiding customer projects from the initial request stage through Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) permitting, while coordinating with internal teams, external customers, and other stakeholders.

In this role, you will help deliver projects that support Alberta’s electricity transmission system and contribute to customer service, regulatory coordination, and cross-functional project execution. You will work with teams across customer service, engineering, siting, land, environment, consultation, operations, asset management, and regulatory functions.

The role reports to the Manager, Project Development within the Projects group.

Key accountabilities

  • Direct customer projects within a matrix structure from concept through to AUC decision, including team formation and day-to-day leadership.
  • Serve as a primary representative for AltaLink with the AESO and customers, while maintaining high service standards and meeting committed deliverables.
  • Oversee project scope, budget, schedule, quality, compliance, and cost performance.
  • Identify project risks and put practical mitigation actions in place.
  • Prepare and deliver major project documents, including connection proposals, service proposals, and facility applications.
  • Guide projects through the AUC permitting process, including responses to information requests and support during regulatory proceedings.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on status, costs, schedule changes, and risks to AESO, customers, and AltaLink leadership.
  • Maintain AltaLink’s representation with the AESO, customers, stakeholders, and any members of the public affected by the project.
  • Coordinate external consultants and contractors involved in design, engineering, and estimate development.
  • Ensure smooth handoff of projects from the Development team to the Delivery team.
  • Work in alignment with the organization’s cultural pillars: one team, continuous improvement, customer focus, and personal accountability.

Requirements
