Descrizione del lavoro
Opportunity
This role sits within the project logistics division of a major international freight forwarder. The business has scaled rapidly, growing from 400 to 1,800 employees worldwide over the last two years through multiple acquisitions, and is supported by more than €1bn of investment. The setup offers strong in-house capability and the ability to deliver the kinds of solutions being sold.
Role overview
The position is centered on new business generation, with an approximate split of 60% prospecting and 40% account development. The main focus is winning large, high-value project cargo customers, especially EPC clients, along with businesses in machinery, solar, power generation, and oil & gas.
Typical project values are substantial, generally ranging from €1m to €10m in revenue. The division is designed for complex, high-value global freight rather than smaller transactional shipments. The work includes export ocean freight from Germany and cross-trade activity across FCL, LCL, out-of-gauge cargo, and heavy lift movements.
Location and team setup
The role is based in Germany, with Hamburg and Bremen preferred. Candidates located further south may also be considered. A Frankfurt-based business development manager is already part of the team, but territories are managed by customer rather than by strict geography.
What makes the division different
- Its own global chartering desk with 7 to 8 specialists, reducing reliance on outside agents for charter work.
- Internal legal support and transport engineering expertise.
- Access to company-owned assets for on-site heavy lifting, supported by recent group acquisitions.
- A flat management structure that supports quicker decisions across the German operation, which covers Hamburg, Frankfurt, and a newly opened Bremen office.
Business focus
The business already has established activity in four main sectors: infrastructure, marine logistics, oil and gas, and machinery and industrial equipment.
Candidate profile
The ideal hire is commercially minded, comfortable selling complex freight solutions, and well versed in the German market. A complete portfolio of existing customers is not required, but a relevant network, a clear sales approach, and the ambition to pursue large, technically demanding accounts are important.
Compensation
The package includes a fixed salary of up to €100,000 depending on experience and the strength of existing customer relationships. A company car is also provided. The incentive plan is designed for strong performers and can enable top salespeople to double their salary.
