About the Company

Netflix Animation Studios is focused on creating bold, immersive animated films that leave a lasting impression and appeal to audiences worldwide. The studio is expanding across three global locations and is building a strong community of artists and production talent to help shape the future of animation.

Role Overview

The studio is looking for an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of production management for a new animated feature film. This position will be responsible for guiding the master schedule, setting production priorities, managing reporting, supporting crew planning, and tracking quota projections. Working closely with Producers, Department Heads, Craft Supervisors, and Production Supervisors, the role helps keep the project on time, within budget, and supported by a healthy, sustainable team culture.

This is a key leadership opportunity on a major feature production, with direct influence on both project delivery and the effectiveness of the production team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, update, and maintain the master production schedule while incorporating timelines from all departments.
  • Keep teams aligned on priorities, milestones, quota targets, and due dates.
  • Track shot and asset priorities, manage schedule shifts, and work with partners to solve timing issues.
  • Work with Producers, creative leaders, and studio partners such as Workplace and Artist Management to balance competing needs.
  • Review production breakdowns to ensure they match the current creative brief and budget, and raise concerns when there are risks or deviations.
  • Manage project tracking and reporting with accuracy, including one-off reports when needed.
  • Spot review-related issues that could affect scope, schedule, or budget and escalate them in time.
  • Guide and assist Production Supervisors, Coordinators, and Assistants while maintaining accountability and clear priorities.
  • Coach and develop members of the production team to strengthen capability and growth.
  • Support crew planning, overtime coordination, and leave coverage together with Producers and Artist Management.
  • Promote smooth communication across departments and across studio sites.
  • Identify risks early, recommend practical solutions, and share updates professionally and promptly.
  • Keep expertise current in production tools, workflows, and industry best practices.
  • Be willing to travel between the three studio locations when required.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of production experience on large-scale animation or VFX projects.
  • At least 2 years in a Production Manager role, or a comparable senior production leadership position.
  • Senior production experience on a minimum of two feature animation or VFX projects.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor large teams.
  • Advanced scheduling capability and strong familiarity with database or project tracking tools; Autodesk Flow Production Tracking experience is required.
  • Solid understanding of feature animation pipelines and production workflows.
  • Excellent analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
  • Calm, practical leadership style with strong interpersonal judgment.
  • Ability to build trust, motivate teams, and work well across departments.

Location and Work Setup

This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It follows a hybrid setup with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. Occasional travel between the studio’s three locations may be required.

Compensation

The typical total compensation range for this role is CAD 95,000 to CAD 141,000 per year. There are no bonuses attached to this role.

Benefits

Benefits may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, mental health support, retirement programs, family-forming benefits, paid leave programs, and paid time off for vacation and sick leave.
