About the Role
This position focuses on coordinating the full production order lifecycle for commercial maize seed processing in Kenya. The role ensures that production-related activities are accurately reflected in SAP and Maestro, while supporting compliance with company processes and procedures across the processing plants.
The job also contributes to team development, issue resolution, documentation control, continuous improvement, and safe, compliant operations within the production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the ERD master data team to ensure master data for the processing plant is complete and properly maintained.
- Partner with the plant planner to review planned orders in Maestro and firm the required orders.
- Create processing orders in SAP by converting PLOs to PROs for DS-Bulk, CS-Bulk, CS-KGWB, CT-Bulk, and TB across processing sites in Ethiopia.
- Manage batch creation across all stages and update the relevant batch characteristics.
- Release process orders to the shop floor so batches can be processed.
- Each week, move open orders to confirmation status after confirming that the shop floor has completed the required goods movements and mass balance checks for each process order and batch.
- Take part in monthly stock counts for product supply.
- Follow up on SAP issues promptly and help ensure errors are corrected when they occur.
- Escalate any departures from SAP standards.
- Support teammates through ongoing feedback and SAP PP module training.
- Share SAP PP knowledge and guidance with EMEA colleagues and others in the group.
- Maintain records and communication archives related to processing documents for Kenya processing plants and other production stations.
- Participate in 5S activities, audits, and workplace standardization efforts.
- Engage actively in Tier 2 and Tier 3 meetings in line with set standards.
- Keep visual board data accurate and ensure compliance requirements are met.
- Contribute to problem-solving efforts such as 5 Whys and Quick Kaizen, and lead assigned improvement work.
- Track continuous improvement suggestions connected to HSE, quality, and efficiency through the red/blue tag system and act on assigned items.
- Support the rollout and commissioning of new production-system applications and act as a role model for operators.
- Maintain strong safety practices and follow internal control requirements.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or another relevant field.
- Background in production planning or supply chain management.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role or field.
- Hands-on familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Good communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience in agriculture or the seed industry is an added advantage.
- Specific exposure to seed production, handling, or processing is preferred.
- Fluency in English.
