Role overview
BSI is looking for a Product Certification Auditor to support product compliance and certification work across several manufacturing sectors. The role involves carrying out product assessments against BSI certification schemes and Kitemark requirements, helping clients understand audit outcomes, and contributing to the ongoing quality and integrity of certified products.
This is a field-based position covering Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, Cheltenham, or Exeter, with frequent travel across the UK and occasional travel within Europe. Overnight stays may be required. The position offers a competitive base salary aligned to experience, along with a company car and bonus.
As part of a global certification leader marking 125 years of impact, you will work with manufacturers on schemes related to glass, fenestration, structural steel (EN 1090), concrete, and construction products (CPR). Candidates may be experienced auditors or professionals with relevant exposure to standards compliance in manufacturing environments.
Key duties
- Carry out product certification assessments and produce clear reports that explain findings and any corrective actions needed.
- Make informed recommendations on certificate issue, renewal, or withdrawal, following BSI procedures and timelines.
- Manage responsibility for assigned client accounts and help maintain strong service delivery and account development.
- Lead audit teams where required, ensuring the team is briefed properly and client relationships remain effective.
- Share accurate and timely updates with support functions so client records and internal information stay complete and current.
- Coach less experienced colleagues and support onboarding when needed.
- Organize workloads efficiently to make the best use of time and maximize billable activity.
- Take part in the onboarding pathway needed to progress to Lead Assessor status.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and practical ability required for standardized audit-related assessments.
- Oversee a portfolio of clients based on location and qualification fit, including scheduling, planning travel, conducting assessments, and managing reporting and results.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring at least four years of industry experience in a product manufacturing setting, especially in quality management or product certification. A background in engineering or manufacturing is preferred, along with previous work in product assessment or auditing against standards.
Applicants should be comfortable travelling frequently throughout the UK and sometimes within Europe. Knowledge of quality management system auditing, especially ISO 9001, is important, and a Lead Auditor 9001 qualification would be a strong advantage.
