Role overview
This position supports the department manager in meeting sales and profit objectives while keeping the store stocked during overnight hours. The role focuses on maintaining product freshness, presentation, availability, and a shopping experience that builds customer trust and loyalty. It also requires supporting an inclusive workplace that values different backgrounds and experiences.
What you will do
- Help create a welcoming, valued, and well-served environment for customers.
- Make sure the department is set up and merchandised according to the plan.
- Maintain product availability, freshness, correct rotation, stock levels, shelf labels, and signage.
- Support ordering and ensure cooler and freezer conditions are maintained properly.
- Assist customers by helping them locate items or suggesting alternatives.
- Work with team members to encourage collaboration, trust, and clear communication.
- Follow all local, state, federal, and company rules and procedures.
- Monitor stock conditions and report inventory discrepancies.
- Check product quality and freshness and take action when items do not meet standards.
- Keep products at the required temperature and maintain temperature logs as required by policy.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, productivity, and workplace safety standards.
- Comply with food safety regulations, including USDA, COOL, and Department of Agriculture requirements.
- Carry out product recalls and withdrawals quickly and secure affected items from customer access.
- Identify unsafe conditions, report safety risks, and notify management about accidents or suspicious activity.
- Support wage and hour compliance, safety training, hazard postings, PPE use, and safe equipment handling.
- Ensure equipment remains in good working order and assist with hazard correction when needed.
- Perform any other job-related duties assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Ability to speak English is required; Spanish is preferred.
- 0 to 3 years of relevant supervisory experience.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States, or able to obtain authorization.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and a background check.
- Strong customer service ability.
- Good interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
Working conditions
The job involves heavy retail physical work. You will spend long periods standing or walking on different flooring surfaces, use both hands and feet repetitively, and frequently reach, carry, push, or lift loads. The role may also involve sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet.
Work may take place in indoor, outdoor, cold, frozen, heated, and wet or humid environments. Hazards may include slippery or cluttered floors, sharp tools, loud noise, dust, fumes, sprays, cleaning chemicals, and other irritants or toxins. Equipment commonly used includes cleaning tools, office equipment, registers, pricing guns, scales, scanners, racks, carts, pallet jacks, and shopping carts. Preferred equipment includes balers/compactors and box cutters. Protective gear may include goggles, gloves, and a back brace. Pulling requirement is 250 lbs, and lifting requirement is 50 lbs.
Schedule and travel
Overnight travel is not required. Travel is occasional. Shifts are varied.
