Role overview

This full-time permanent position is for an experienced Lead MRI Radiographer based at Northern Beaches Hospital in Frenchs Forest, New South Wales. The role sits within a busy, high-acuity hospital environment and is responsible for guiding MRI services while maintaining strong clinical standards, smooth operations, and a positive team culture.

The position combines hands-on MRI practice with leadership responsibilities, with a focus on safe, efficient, and high-quality imaging delivery. The preferred candidate will bring at least 7 years of MRI experience, prior management exposure, and knowledge of Siemens MRI systems would be beneficial.

The service operates extended hours, so the role requires availability across weekdays, evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day running of MRI operations, including workflow, image quality, and patient-focused care.
• Manage rostering, leave planning, resource allocation, and team performance to support smooth service delivery.
• Use sound judgement, initiative, and independent problem-solving while working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Apply advanced MRI expertise across a wide mix of specialties such as neuro, cardiac, musculoskeletal, oncology, and paediatric imaging in a complex or tertiary setting.
• Contribute to quality improvement, protocol refinement, and service development alongside departmental leaders.
• Support the possibility of involvement in the Lumus National MRI Advisory Group.
• Provide training, supervision, and mentoring to MRI radiographers and students.
• Encourage continuous professional development and a growth-oriented mindset across the team.
• Maintain compliance with safety requirements, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.

Candidate profile

• Minimum of 7 years’ MRI experience.
• Previous success in a management or leadership role.
• Strong experience in advanced MRI across multiple specialties.
• Ability to work in a complex hospital setting and handle extended-hours coverage.
• Current AHPRA registration.
• Siemens MRI experience is considered an advantage.
