Role overview
This is a full-time, on-site Medical Physicist position located at Hamad Medical City (37), Doha, Qatar. The role supports radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging services by ensuring precise treatment planning and the safe administration of radiation to patients. The position combines clinical, technical, and collaborative responsibilities across patient care, safety, quality assurance, and staff support.
What you will do
- Support clinical radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging services with medical physics expertise.
- Check and carry out dosimetry calculations to ensure treatment accuracy.
- Oversee equipment commissioning and routine quality assurance testing.
- Confirm adherence to radiation protection standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Work with physicians, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and technologists to improve treatment planning and solve technical issues.
- Help develop and refine clinical protocols and workflow practices.
- Contribute to research, teaching, and education-related activities.
- Assist in continuous quality improvement efforts across the service.
- Help train clinical staff in the safe and effective use of radiation-based technologies.
Qualifications and requirements
- Strong grounding in medical physics and general physics, with the ability to apply theory in a clinical environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of treatment planning and dosimetry, including plan verification and optimization.
- Solid understanding of radiation safety, shielding calculations, and compliance requirements.
- Master’s degree or above in Medical Physics, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Board certification, or eligibility for certification in medical physics, is preferred.
- Experience working with radiotherapy equipment, treatment planning systems, and quality assurance tools in a hospital or cancer care setting.
- Strong analytical thinking, documentation, and troubleshooting abilities, with a high level of precision in calculations.
- Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and explain technical concepts clearly.
- Willingness to support staff training, research, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong commitment to patient safety and continuous professional learning.
