Role overview
The Managing Director will set the overall vision for the organization and steer it toward its mission and long-term goals. This senior leadership position calls for strong executive judgment, fresh thinking, and the ability to handle complex commercial environments. The selected candidate will drive sustainable expansion by understanding market movements, improving operational effectiveness, and building a high-performance culture rooted in accountability.
In this role, you will serve as the organization’s main representative, engaging with board members, investors, clients, and regulatory authorities while protecting and advancing the organization’s interests. The role also requires a leader who can shape strategy, improve how resources are used, and guide major organizational change without losing sight of near-term priorities or future stability.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute the organization’s strategy so it stays aligned with business goals and can respond to market changes.
- Oversee all operating functions to improve efficiency, productivity, and service delivery.
- Guide the executive leadership team in planning and carrying out strategic programs that encourage innovation and ongoing improvement.
- Set up strong financial controls, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance review processes, to support responsible and transparent resource use.
- Build productive relationships with clients, investors, regulators, and other stakeholders to strengthen the organization’s reputation and influence.
- Study market and industry developments to identify growth opportunities and improve competitive positioning.
- Lead transformation efforts and support employees through organizational change.
- Ensure the organization follows legal, regulatory, and ethical standards across all activities.
- Track performance indicators and use the findings to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and forums as a senior voice for best practices and thought leadership.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of experience in executive leadership within a comparable industry or sector, with clear evidence of increasing responsibility and measurable impact.
- A strong history of designing and delivering strategic plans that improve revenue and operational performance.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams, inspire high engagement, and shape a positive workplace culture.
- Solid financial understanding, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for informed decision-making and resource planning.
- Deep knowledge of industry regulations, trends, and best practices, along with an understanding of market positioning.
- Excellent negotiation ability and experience handling complex relationships with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Strong capability in leading change initiatives and helping teams adapt successfully through transition.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters clearly to varied audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make evidence-based decisions in uncertain situations.
- Experience in risk management and crisis communication, with the ability to protect organizational reputation.
- Strategic planning, leadership, team development, and stakeholder influence skills.
