Role overview

The Office of the Public Guardian is seeking a Manager Investigations to lead its statewide investigations function. In this position, you will be responsible for producing strong investigation outcomes while also giving senior-level strategic and operational guidance to the Public Guardian and delegated officers on investigative matters.

This role calls for substantial leadership and investigations experience, with a strong focus on maintaining quality, consistency and compliance across the organisation’s statutory investigative work.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the investigations team so the Office of the Public Guardian’s statutory investigation responsibilities are delivered efficiently, effectively and in line with legal, ethical and procedural obligations.
  • Provide high-level strategic and operational advice to the Public Guardian and delegates on investigation activity and the use of statutory powers.
  • Review data to spot patterns, risks and emerging issues that can guide investigation approaches, service planning and delivery decisions.
  • Draft substantial reports, submissions and formal correspondence on strategic and operational matters.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships through complex communication and negotiation with stakeholders on sensitive organisational and operational issues, while supporting strategic and operational objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement by planning performance, strengthening processes, and helping shape investigation policy and practice.

Additional information

A Certificate IV or Diploma in Government Investigations is desirable. Tertiary qualifications in law, investigations, social sciences, health, behavioural sciences, or a related field are also considered desirable.

The successful candidate may be required to work outside standard business hours and travel within Queensland.

Mandatory conditions

A current C class driver’s licence is required.
