Role overview
Esland is seeking a skilled, versatile maintenance professional to join a multi-disciplinary team supporting its care homes and other parts of the organisation. This role focuses on keeping properties safe, functional, and well maintained through a mix of scheduled work and urgent repairs.
The post holder will handle a broad range of maintenance activities, including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting, basic electrical work, and gardening. The work is field-based across the Matlock, Buxton, Ashbourne, Chesterfield, and Bakewell areas, so the successful candidate should be comfortable travelling between sites and managing varied property upkeep tasks.

Key duties
- Carry out general maintenance and repair work across the homes, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Support the wider maintenance team with additional jobs as needed across the organisation’s properties.
- Work in line with health and safety requirements at all times and escalate any concerns to management promptly.
- Be available to work one Saturday every six weeks.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience covering a wide range of maintenance work and be confident delivering reliable property upkeep.
- Practical experience in plastering, building work, and decorating.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing tasks.
- Strong communication skills for dealing with colleagues at different levels.
- Confidence using powered hand tools and bench tools safely.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Comfort using IT systems for job tracking and updates; the team currently uses Jira.
- A full driving licence and the flexibility to travel across the homes are essential.
