Maintenance Manager

Role overview

An established food manufacturing business in West Cork is looking for a seasoned Maintenance Manager to take charge of engineering reliability, maintenance planning, and automation performance at a large-scale production site operating around the clock, seven days a week.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding a team of engineering and maintenance specialists. The position offers the chance to influence site maintenance direction, strengthen plant dependability, and contribute to major engineering initiatives in a highly automated manufacturing setting.

What you will do

• Set and direct the site-wide approach to maintenance and reliability.
• Oversee maintenance activity within a complex manufacturing operation running 24/7.
• Improve equipment availability, asset effectiveness, and preventive maintenance standards.
• Provide technical oversight for PLCs, SCADA, and industrial control technologies.
• Support capital projects from early design stages through to commissioning.
• Lead fault-finding reviews and broader reliability improvement work.
• Manage contractors, maintenance systems, and engineering budgets.
• Coach, develop, and support a high-performing engineering and maintenance team.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to drive operational performance.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate is an experienced maintenance leader with a solid technical background gained in food manufacturing, FMCG, or another highly automated process environment.

• Degree or trade-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
• Proven experience leading maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, and industrial automation.
• Background in managing electrical infrastructure and plant utilities.
• Demonstrated ability to improve equipment reliability and maintenance results.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Experience delivering engineering projects and continuous improvement programmes.
