About SupaHuman

SupaHuman creates AI operating systems for demanding, regulated sectors. Its main product, VET OS, supports vocational education providers by streamlining compliance mapping, assessment planning, training content creation, quality assurance, and related workflows. These tasks are usually slow, manual, and reliant on hard-to-find specialists; the product aims to reduce work that takes weeks into work that can be completed in hours. The company is expanding into Australia and is focusing investment on VET OS.

The product is developed together with the sector rather than for an abstract market. It is built in collaboration with RTOs, TAFEs, PTEs, compliance professionals, and instructional designers as part of their day-to-day work.

Role Overview

This position is for a senior engineer who will lead delivery within a co-build pod made up of internal engineers and external subject-matter experts. You will help shape VET OS alongside the people who use it, set the technical direction and delivery pace for the pod, and take ownership of features from the first discovery step through to release.

You will use AI coding agents to accelerate development, while applying strong product judgment, technical taste, and engineering discipline to ensure the output is genuinely production-ready. The work covers the full cycle: investigate, scope, prototype, validate, build, and deploy.

What You'll Do

  • Take features from early problem discovery through to live release.
  • Work closely with SMEs and customers to understand real-world needs.
  • Define the solution approach and the trade-offs involved.
  • Create quick prototypes that can be tested early.
  • Validate ideas with SMEs and customers, then refine based on feedback.
  • Use AI coding agents to handle much of the implementation work while you ensure quality and fit.
  • Release product updates and remain accountable for quality after deployment.
  • Lead your pod by setting technical direction, delivery pace, and standards.

Technical Background

The team is looking for someone with 4+ years of senior-level engineering experience and hands-on capability across modern application and cloud technologies. Relevant experience may include JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Next.js, React, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, SQL, and NoSQL systems.

You should also have practical familiarity with core generative AI concepts and tooling, including model SDKs, agent frameworks, vector databases and RAG, MCP, prompt and context design, AI safety and guardrails, and balancing cost, accuracy, and latency.

Working Style and Values

The company works around three values: Be Brave, Be Hungry, and Be Human. The ideal candidate is customer-focused and brings these values into everyday work.

Be Brave: You are comfortable making difficult technical and product decisions under pressure, and you can translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders without leaning on unnecessary complexity.

Be Hungry: You are motivated to keep improving, notice opportunities quickly, act on them, and stay curious about what is genuinely useful in the AI ecosystem versus what is merely hype.

Be Human: You collaborate well, keep the client experience front and centre, give feedback thoughtfully, handle hard conversations honestly, and are trusted because you listen and show up.

How AI Is Used in This Role

AI is central to how the role works, not just an auxiliary tool. The expectation is that AI will do much of the heavy lifting so your judgment can focus on the highest-value work.

You will use coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, and similar tools as a primary development method for prototyping, shipping, and automating more of the software lifecycle. Speed is important, but the core expectation is that you can evaluate AI-generated output, pressure-test it, and harden it until it is production-grade.

Reusable agents, prompts, and automation you create are expected to improve the productivity of the whole pod, not just your own workflow.

Who This Role Suits

You do not need to already be an expert in vocational education. The team expects you to learn the domain over time, working alongside people who understand the sector deeply. If you enjoy learning how an industry works, including its constraints, challenges, and opportunities, you will have room to grow into the space and build software that makes a measurable difference.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Full ownership of features from first investigation through deployment.
  • A chance to work at the cutting edge of agentic software development.
  • Real influence over how AI coding tools, shared agent toolkits, and SDLC automation are used.
  • Leadership responsibility within a pod that is building directly with customers and specialists.
  • A varied role with exposure to AI features such as coaching, assessment, and other modernisation work for the NZ and AU vocational education sector.

Additional Information

The role is based in Auckland, New Zealand and is a full-time onsite position.

No stipend or salary amount was specified in the source material. No opening count, start date, or application deadline was provided.

There are no separate perks, eligibility restrictions, or education requirements listed beyond the experience and technical background described above.

The role is aimed at candidates who are excited by building with AI as the primary development approach and who want to modernise an important sector across New Zealand and Australia.
