Opportunity

The Public Defence Service North Shore is seeking a skilled criminal defence lawyer for the PAL 2 level. This role offers a varied caseload, a collaborative workplace, and a strong platform for building a career in criminal advocacy.

Position summary

Based at the North Shore (Albany) office, the successful candidate will join the Public Defence Service and report to a Legal Team Manager. The role focuses on delivering high-quality defence work for legally aided clients while contributing to team capability and client service.

Key duties

  • Provide strong defence representation for legally aided clients.
  • Handle a broad range of criminal files and matters.
  • Support intermediate and senior legal staff as needed.
  • Contribute to the coaching and mentoring of junior lawyers.
