Junior Designer

About the Role

Relish Ideas is seeking a Junior Designer to join its employee-owned creative team in Winnipeg or Calgary. Founded in 1998, the studio has grown into a collaborative group of strategists, designers, developers, educators, and entrepreneurs. The agency creates brands, builds systems, and brings ideas to life for clients such as cultural institutions, associations, Indigenous-led organizations, non-profits, and other purpose-led organizations across Canada. As a Certified B Corporation, the company places strong value on the broader impact of its work, not only on visual quality.

This position is best suited to a designer with 1 to 3 years of professional experience who wants to contribute strategic thinking as well as visual execution. The team is looking for someone who approaches problems with ideas rather than templates, combines creative thinking with precision, and works confidently across brand systems and applied design. The role is hybrid, with a base in Winnipeg or Calgary, and balances in-person collaboration with flexibility and focused work time.

What You’ll Do

• Shape early-stage ideas for brand, campaign, and digital assignments.
• Turn strategic direction into clear and unified visual systems.
• Create designs across print, digital, and experiential formats.
• Work closely with strategists, developers, and project managers throughout projects.

What You Bring

Experience and Training

• 1 to 3 years of professional experience in design.
• A degree or equivalent formal training in graphic design.

Core Strengths

• Strong grasp of branding, positioning, and marketing systems.
• Excellent command of typography, hierarchy, colour, and layout.
• Ability to think conceptually across multiple channels and platforms.
• Careful attention to detail and strong production standards.
• Comfort balancing creative ambition with practical project needs.

Additional Advantages

• Experience in UX/UI and digital design.
• Exposure to CMS platforms.
• Working understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience designing with accessibility standards in mind.
• Knowledge of print production workflows.
• Video editing experience.
