Role overview
This opportunity is for a creative brand designer to help define the visual identity of a new coffee roasting and events venture based in the UK. The work focuses on building a brand system that includes a logo, a mascot, and an overall look and feel inspired by vinyl listening bars and cafés, with influences drawn from Scandinavian and Japanese design.
The preferred style is illustration-led and aimed at urban, design-aware audiences who connect with music culture and everyday rituals. The aim is to create something understated, polished, and memorable rather than flashy or overly playful. Reference materials will be shared to support the process, and there is room for additional work as the brand grows.
What the project involves
- Developing a signature illustration style that becomes the foundation of the brand language
- Creating a clear and easy-to-remember logo or wordmark
- Designing a coffee bag or sleeve mockup that uses the illustration direction
- Optionally adding icons or other supporting graphic elements
- Working collaboratively to narrow down and refine one strong concept
- Incorporating feedback and adjusting the artwork to match the brand’s goals and audience
Requirements
- A strong portfolio demonstrating brand identity, illustration, and packaging work, preferably across music, café, or lifestyle projects
- Comfort using industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- The ability to interpret references and turn them into an original visual direction
- Clear communication and a willingness to collaborate closely on creative decisions
- Familiarity with Scandinavian and Japanese design principles
- A detail-oriented mindset with a minimal, refined approach to branding
- Availability to take on the initial assignment, with the possibility of more work later
