About dWELL Recovery
dWELL has been building an affirming recovery housing program since 2020, designed to help young adults move toward independence through residences and a community-centered approach focused on growth and healing. The organization uses a personalized, skills-based model that supports individuals as they work toward their own life goals.
Role Overview
dWELL Recovery is hiring a resourceful, detail-focused HR Generalist to join its New York City team. In this position, you will provide day-to-day support to the Program Director and take ownership of a broad range of human resources activities. The role covers recruiting, performance management, employee separations, engagement efforts, year-end processes, and other HR responsibilities as needed.
Key Duties
- Work closely with staff and leadership to foster a workplace that is welcoming, inclusive, and highly engaged.
- Guide the employee journey from end to end, including recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding, while keeping the experience positive for both candidates and employees.
- Keep HR operations compliant and organized, manage sensitive matters carefully, and protect employee and company HR information.
- Be the main contact for employees with questions about policies, benefits, paid time off, and HR procedures.
- Support performance reviews, progressive discipline, and year-end evaluation cycles with consistent communication and proper documentation.
- Keep employee files, personnel records, and HRIS information accurate and current.
- Help administer benefits and leave programs so employees receive support throughout each process.
- Partner with the HR Director on employee relations, conflict resolution, and investigations when required.
- Take part in HR projects and improvements that strengthen systems, streamline processes, and improve overall organizational performance.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of relevant HR experience is preferred.
- Prior recruiting experience is required.
- You should be able to build strong relationships and collaborate well with others.
- Solid business judgment and strong working knowledge of human resources practices are needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with approachable and engaging interpersonal abilities, are important.
- You should bring strong judgment, empathy, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization and time management are necessary, along with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail is essential.
- Experience with HRIS platforms and Jusworks is preferred.
- SHRM certification is preferred.
- The role requires being onsite in New York City five days per week.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift 20–40 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, or react quickly during emergencies.
- Ability to move up and down multiple flights of stairs several times each day.
- Ability to complete facility rounds and inspections.
- Must also be able to stand, walk, and climb extensively, lift up to 50 lbs regularly, carry and stock supplies and materials, and bend, stoop, and climb to access materials.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $95,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) plan with up to 3% company match that becomes fully vested after 3 years; flexible PTO; a hands-on, creative, team-based environment in New York City; a close-knit, family-owned culture centered on teamwork and trust; and 12 weeks of paid parental leave after one full year of service.
