Overview
Home Group is hiring a Housing Concierge for a permanent full-time role in Camborne/Roskear, Cornwall. The position pays £13.45 per hour or an annual salary of £26,300, and includes a benefits package such as a Health Cash Plan. This is a night-based role working 37.5 hours per week, and sponsorship for a Certificate of Sponsorship is not available.
This role is suited to someone who is comfortable working overnight, supporting vulnerable residents, and helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming living environment. You will also play a part in keeping good relationships with neighbours and responding appropriately when issues arise.
Key duties
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out regular checks across the building, supporting residents and visitors, and being the first point of contact when additional help is needed during quieter hours.
- Patrol the property and inspect CCTV, fire doors, and shared spaces.
- Welcome residents and visitors, and note any repair or cleaning needs.
- Provide the initial layer of support for customers when wider support services or their own networks are unavailable.
- Handle incidents in a steady, prompt, and fair manner.
- Work alongside colleagues and external partners to address anti-social behaviour.
What we are looking for
The successful candidate should stay composed under pressure, communicate clearly, and use sound judgement when deciding how to respond to developing situations. Experience of helping others, whether in a personal or professional setting, is important. You should also be able to notice early signs of problems and step in tactfully and sensitively.
Because travel is required between locations in Camborne and Redruth, you will need access to a vehicle insured for business use. Mileage will be reimbursed.
Working arrangements
This is a night-shift, lone-working position on a rolling rota of 3 days per week, with hours between 6pm and 7am. Although the work is mainly overnight, daytime training and team meetings take place regularly. You will also need to use technology to monitor CCTV, update records, and stay in contact with colleagues.
An Enhanced DBS check is required, and the employer will cover the cost.
Benefits
- 34 days of leave, rising to 39 days, including bank holidays and a personal “me day”.
- Health cash plan worth over £1,140 per year for you and your children, covering dental care, eye tests, prescriptions, and more.
- Pension contributions matched up to 7%, plus life insurance worth 3 times basic salary.
- Instant pay access through Stream.
- Access to more than 800 discounts on retail, travel, days out, technology, and other purchases.
