Job overview
This position is for a Room Attendant who helps keep guest accommodations and shared hotel spaces clean, orderly, and comfortable. The role supports a welcoming environment and contributes directly to guest satisfaction and overall service quality.
Key duties
- Prepare guest rooms to standard by dusting, vacuuming, changing bedding, making beds, and ensuring the room is neat and presentable.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, fixtures, surfaces, and guest amenities.
- Wipe furniture, decorative items, and other surfaces in guest rooms and public areas.
- Replace used supplies such as towels, toiletries, and linens.
- Remove waste from guest rooms and common areas and fit fresh liners as needed.
- Care for floors by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming in rooms, hallways, and other public spaces.
- Spot and report repair or maintenance problems to the appropriate team.
- Keep an eye out for misplaced guest belongings and pass them on according to procedure.
- Handle guest requests and questions politely and professionally.
- Follow privacy rules and security procedures while carrying out housekeeping tasks.
Skills and abilities
- Prior housekeeping or similar hospitality experience is beneficial.
- Strong eye for detail and consistent cleaning standards.
- Knowledge of cleaning tools, products, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned rooms efficiently.
- Good communication skills for guest and team interaction.
- Basic awareness of sanitation and workplace safety practices.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
Working conditions
This is a physically active hospitality role. It involves prolonged standing and walking, as well as climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and lifting items up to 50 lbs. Work may take place indoors around hotel equipment and machines, and may include exposure to heat, cold, cleaning chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and noise. Safety procedures and protective equipment must be followed where needed.
