Head, Project Engineering (QatarEnergy Park)

Role overview

The Head of Project Engineering acts as the senior engineering authority for the Infrastructure and Civil discipline on the QatarEnergy MIC Business Park major project. In this position, you will guide and control all discipline engineering work across the entire project journey, with responsibility for maintaining technical quality, engineering robustness, and close alignment with project goals.

The role also involves leading strategic engineering delivery so that outcomes are safe, high quality, on schedule, and cost conscious, while remaining compliant with corporate requirements and accepted industry practice.

What the role requires

This position calls for a seasoned engineering leader with deep experience in infrastructure and civil works in the oil and gas sector, especially in major project environments. You should be comfortable handling project engineering, construction interfaces, and site supervision across every phase of execution.

Experience and technical background

• You need a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in infrastructure and civil projects within oil and gas, mainly on large project execution assignments.
• You should bring at least 10 years of experience leading discipline engineering groups on major projects, including at least 5 years in people management or a similar leadership capacity.
• A strong foundation in project management, discipline engineering, construction, and supervision is expected, with exposure to the full project lifecycle.
• You must be experienced in applying recognized industry practices and working within company systems, procedures, and engineering standards.

Leadership and communication

• The role requires advanced leadership, stakeholder management, interpersonal, communication, conflict handling, and presentation abilities.
• Excellent written and spoken English is essential, along with the ability to prepare reports, deliver presentations, and chair multi-disciplinary meetings effectively.
• You should be able to control time, budget, and quality performance in a complex environment involving several projects at once.

Education and professional credentials

• A B.Sc. degree in an engineering discipline from a recognized university is required.
• A higher degree will be considered an advantage.
• Membership in a recognized professional engineering body or institution is required.
• PMP certification would be an added advantage.
