Ground Maintenance Operative

Role overview

This position is based in Havant and focuses on maintaining clean, tidy, and welcoming public spaces for the local community. It is a hands-on outdoor maintenance role suited to someone who enjoys active work and contributing to the upkeep of shared areas.

Shift details

• Work follows a 4 days on, 4 days off rota.
• Scheduled hours run from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Shifts may extend into weekends and bank holidays if required by the rota.
• A 1-hour unpaid lunch break is included.
• Hourly pay is £14.56.

Key duties

• Carry out street cleaning across assigned areas.
• Remove waste from bins and other public receptacles.
• Pick up litter and help keep outdoor spaces presentable.
• Support beach patrol activities.
• Clean toilets and other public convenience facilities.
• Maintain the cleanliness of public amenities.
• Unlock and secure public areas as part of opening and closing routines.
• Drive a van to reach designated work locations.

Candidate profile

• Prior experience working outdoors for long periods is preferred.
• Previous work involving substantial walking will be an advantage.
• You should be comfortable being on your feet throughout the day.
• A valid driving licence is required.
