Role summary
This Finance Manager position is based in Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs and reports to the General Manager of Finance. The role carries end-to-end accountability for ANZ accounting accuracy, balance sheet integrity, corporate policy compliance, tax obligations, and timely financial reporting. It also plays a key part in improving processes across the region and providing management with clear financial insight.
The opportunity sits within a large ASX-listed business operating across heavy industry and mechanical products, with strong exposure to APAC stakeholders and executive leadership. The business manages a major business unit with revenue above $600 million and is seeking a hands-on finance leader who can support growth, drive efficiency, and lead a small team.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of finance activities for the assigned business segment, ensuring records are accurate and controls remain effective.
- Run the month-end close process, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and raise risks when needed.
- Lead, coach, and develop a finance team of two.
- Prepare and deliver monthly P&L, payroll/FTE, and regional reports with meaningful performance commentary for managers.
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager on forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
- Manage intercompany transactions and coordinate with other business units and Group functions.
- Track expenditure, monitor project costs, and identify ways to improve cost efficiency.
- Support internal and external audit requirements and prepare statutory reporting, including GST and FBT.
Systems and process improvement
- Challenge existing ways of working to improve accuracy, efficiency, and accounting outcomes.
- Introduce technology-enabled solutions and get the most out of accounting systems and software.
- Simplify and standardise financial processes and reporting across the team and wider region.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is a CPA or CA-qualified finance professional with leadership experience in a complex, multi-site or supply-chain environment, or a comparable setting. You should be comfortable leading a small team, operating in a business undergoing change, and using strong analysis and problem-solving skills to influence better decisions.
This role suits someone with a proactive, energetic approach, strong stakeholder management ability, and the confidence to question existing processes in pursuit of stronger business outcomes. Experience across multiple ERP platforms is highly desirable, and familiarity with Power BI would be an advantage.
Culture and benefits
You will join an innovative, people-focused listed organisation with a strong reputation and a commitment to service excellence. The role offers direct exposure to executive leadership, the chance to support a major business unit, and the opportunity to contribute to a large-scale improvement agenda.
- Clear opportunities for promotion and internal mobility across a large organisation.
- Salary package of $160,000 to $170,000 plus superannuation and bonus.
- Flexible working arrangements that reward performance and adaptability.
