About the Organisation
Chisipite School Trust is a Harare-based educational institution committed to keeping its learning environment safe, functional, and pleasant for pupils, staff, and visitors. The Trust is responsible for the care of school buildings, outdoor areas, and recreational facilities, with a strong emphasis on responsible management and ongoing improvement of its assets.
Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site position in Harare for someone who can oversee the upkeep, presentation, and day-to-day running of the school’s estate. The role covers buildings, grounds, and the swimming pool, with an expectation to keep all spaces clean, well maintained, and fit for use.
Key Duties
The successful candidate will supervise grounds and maintenance personnel, organise maintenance plans, and make sure classrooms, offices, and shared spaces remain safe and serviceable. The position also includes oversight of gardening, landscaping, rubbish control, and pool maintenance, including checking water condition, safety, and equipment performance. In addition, the Estate Manager will coordinate repairs with outside contractors and service providers, maintain stocks of maintenance materials, carry out inspections, handle maintenance requests promptly, and keep the school leadership informed.
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants should bring solid experience in estate, property, or facilities management, along with the ability to oversee buildings and associated infrastructure effectively. Experience in planning maintenance work, managing contractors, and ensuring health, safety, and compliance standards is important. The role also calls for budgeting ability, team supervision experience, and practical understanding of building upkeep, including basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and swimming pool care. Strong organisational skills, time management, attention to detail, and clear written and spoken communication are essential. A technical or vocational qualification in facilities, property, or building maintenance is preferred, and additional training in health and safety or pool maintenance would be an advantage. Experience in an educational, institutional, or similar setting will be beneficial.
Additional Information
The role requires a professional, dependable person who can work closely with school stakeholders and respond appropriately to the needs of staff and learners. The position is centred on maintaining a welcoming environment and supporting the smooth operation of the school estate.
