Role overview
This permanent, full-time Estates Caretaker position is based across residential estates in Chesham and High Wycombe, within the property services sector. The role focuses on providing a dependable, proactive, and responsive cleaning and caretaking service to keep communal and external areas safe, tidy, and well maintained.
The working schedule is Monday to Friday, 08:00 am to 4:30 pm. The annual salary is £30,005.
Key duties
- Keep communal spaces in residential buildings clean to a high standard.
- Carry out vacuuming, surface wiping, waste removal, toilet cleaning, and replenishment of consumables.
- Clean and disinfect bin rooms, ensure bins can be accessed easily, and support refuse teams when needed.
- Collect litter, fallen leaves, dog waste, and other debris from outdoor areas.
- Clear gutters and gullies to reduce the risk of blockages and protect site safety.
- Sweep hard-standing surfaces and assist with snow clearing and gritting during winter.
- Clean lift cabins and keep control panels and door tracks free of dirt and debris.
- Spot when a deep clean or specialist cleaning service is needed and escalate it appropriately.
- Work in line with health and safety standards at all times.
- Log tenancy concerns, estate issues, or property defects when required.
- Record completed tasks accurately using the provided systems and technology.
- Order, manage, and store cleaning materials and equipment safely.
- Maintain bin store cleanliness and report waste collection problems.
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Drive service vehicles safely and keep them clean, roadworthy, and properly maintained.
- Offer basic guidance and help to residents while on site.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks that fit the needs of the role.
Requirements
- A full manual UK driving licence is essential.
- A basic DBS check is required.
- Previous experience in social housing is preferred.
