Role Summary
This is a full-time Equity Research Associate position for someone who is highly motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented. You will work directly with senior investment professionals, supporting equity analysis and contributing to investment decisions. The role is intended as a 2 to 4 year commitment and is designed to create a strong base for a future career in investment management or a related path.
Core Work
- Develop and update detailed financial models used to project business performance and estimate valuation.
- Draft investment memos, presentations, and reports that help inform recommendations on existing portfolio holdings.
- Track sector trends, macroeconomic changes, and competitive developments that could affect investment views.
- Perform in-depth fundamental research on publicly listed large-cap companies in Technology, Health Care, Financials, and Consumer Discretionary.
- Following an initial training period of 9 to 18 months, work with portfolio managers and other colleagues to source and assess investment ideas beyond the current portfolio.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a closely related discipline is required. Progress toward the CFA, or an expressed interest in pursuing it, is considered an advantage. The employer is looking for candidates with 0 to 3 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or another analytical role. Strong interest in investing, curiosity about markets and industries, the ability to work independently, strong communication skills, and excellent analytical judgment with careful attention to detail are all important.
Compensation
The role comes with a competitive fixed salary plus a performance-linked bonus. Overall pay will depend on the candidate’s background, qualifications, and experience.
Work Location and Schedule
The position is based on site in Arlington, Virginia, within the Washington DC metropolitan area. The firm follows the U.S. stock market holiday calendar for closures.
