About the role

This position is for a highly technical Director with substantial practical experience in software engineering, cloud-native design, AI systems, and the AWS ecosystem. The role sits at a senior leadership level and focuses on helping clients modernise their technology platforms, speed up software delivery, and bring AI into enterprise environments at scale.

You will guide strategy discussions, shape intricate solution designs, and lead the delivery of client engagements. The role calls for someone who can confidently discuss engineering approaches, cloud architecture, platform modernisation, Generative AI, and enterprise delivery with both technical teams and senior executives.

As a Director, you will combine technical leadership with people leadership, bringing credibility within engineering circles, with customer leadership teams, and across the AWS partner network. A strong mix of pre-sales, delivery oversight, commercial judgement, and thought leadership is essential, as the role helps clients move from planning to measurable production results.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on software, platform, cloud, and AI direction.
• Run architecture and technical design workshops, and lead solution-shaping discussions.
• Plan and supervise delivery of enterprise-scale software and AI solutions.
• Serve as a trusted adviser on AWS, engineering, and AI transformation topics.
• Lead successful engagement delivery while coaching teams involved in the work.
• Support technical pre-sales, opportunity qualification, and solution development.
• Define scope for complex programs, including estimates, delivery approaches, and commercial inputs.
• Develop strong working relationships with AWS partners and client stakeholders.
• Partner with marketing and practice leadership to create thought leadership content, accelerators, blogs, demos, and technical collateral.
• Represent the business publicly through conferences, meetups, podcasts, and customer-facing events.
• Help recruit, interview, and mentor technical talent.
• Contribute to internal engineering standards, reusable assets, AI capabilities, and delivery intellectual property.

Requirements

• Proven background leading large enterprise programs in software, cloud, and AI transformation.
• Strong people leadership and mentoring skills with experience developing high-performing technical teams.
• Demonstrated success in technical pre-sales, solution design, and enterprise client engagement.
• Experience preparing scopes, estimates, Statements of Work, and delivery plans for complex programs.
• Excellent executive communication skills and the ability to influence audiences from engineers to C-suite leaders.
• Hands-on ability in designing and delivering modern software engineering and cloud-native architectures.
• Deep experience with AWS services and the broader AWS ecosystem, including modern application architecture and cloud platform design.
• Strong understanding of AI engineering and Generative AI, including enterprise adoption patterns, LLM-based solutions, agentic workflows, APIs, RAG, MCP, orchestration, and production-readiness considerations.
• Ability to build scalable, secure, enterprise-grade solutions.
• Strong grounding in CI/CD, DevOps, testing strategies, platform engineering, observability, and secure-by-design practices.
• Experience modernising legacy enterprise platforms through cloud migration and software transformation.
• Working knowledge of security, governance, compliance, and operational excellence in enterprise settings.
• A strong network across the software, AI, and AWS communities.
• Evidence of thought leadership through blogs, talks, presentations, community events, or customer engagement.
• A continuous learning mindset with interest in certifications, new technologies, and industry developments.
