About the Role
The Director of Marketing Operations serves as a strategic and operational partner to the VP of Marketing. This role is crucial for driving planning rigor, operational excellence, and cross-functional alignment within the marketing department. The primary objective is to ensure marketing strategies are effectively translated into measurable execution through robust performance management, data-driven insights, and operational discipline, ultimately ensuring initiatives deliver significant impact. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and operational capabilities, with a proven ability to collaborate across marketing and sales functions to optimize performance and achieve business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the annual and quarterly marketing planning processes, including the definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and prioritization of initiatives.
- Establish and maintain marketing performance frameworks, dashboards, and reporting schedules.
- Analyze campaign, funnel, and pipeline performance to generate actionable insights for improvement.
- Manage the marketing budget, ensuring adherence, tracking expenditures, forecasting, and conducting Return on Investment (ROI) analyses.
- Develop and implement scalable processes for performance measurement, attribution modeling, and reporting.
- Identify emerging trends, potential risks, and opportunities through in-depth analysis of marketing data.
- Enhance workflows, operating cadences, and data quality to support large-scale decision-making.
- Integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to boost marketing efficiency.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives involving marketing, sales, and product teams.
- Collaborate closely with sales operations to ensure alignment on funnel definitions, metrics, and handoff processes.
- Ensure go-to-market plans are supported by clear metrics, timelines, and defined accountability.
- Act as a central coordinator for complex, high-impact programs.
- Prepare performance reports, insights, and presentation materials for executive meetings and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
- Communicate complex data and insights in a clear and concise manner to senior stakeholders.
- Provide leadership with data-backed recommendations and decision support.
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing operations, marketing analytics, strategy, or business operations, with a preference for experience in field marketing.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, KPI management, and performance reporting.
- A solid understanding of B2B marketing principles, go-to-market strategies, and revenue alignment.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort in handling data and ambiguous situations.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders across different functions, even without direct authority.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
