Collen Construction is offering a 14-month fixed-term opportunity for a Design Manager based on site in Dublin. What the role involves

• Act as the communication link between architects, structural engineers, and service engineers working on the project for Collen.
• Keep Collen’s Contracts Manager and Quantity Surveyor informed of design changes and their commercial impact.
• Manage design development with strong awareness of financial and contractual implications.
• Lead and facilitate workshop meetings with specialist subcontractors.
• Oversee the submission and approval flow for drawings, designs, and materials, ensuring the client representative signs off as required.
• Identify design and risk issues early and work with the design team to resolve them before they become problems.
• Prepare forward-looking schedules and action plans.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Manager and Site Manager so all stakeholders remain aligned.
• Attend site meetings and provide progress updates.

What is expected

• Applicants should bring an architectural qualification and relevant professional background.
• Previous experience in design or construction work on site is required.
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years in a comparable role is expected.
• Strong commercial and contractual judgment is important.
• The candidate should have solid planning and programme management ability.
• Broader knowledge of construction across multiple disciplines, including technical design and construction details, is needed.
• Working knowledge of building regulations, BCAR, TGD, and environmental, health, and safety requirements is essential.
• Good negotiation and presentation skills are required.
