Role overview

This position is for a Design and Estimation Engineer who will support control panel and electrical project work through technical design, costing, quotation preparation, and tender handling. The role is based in Navi Mumbai and involves working across electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation-related products.

The employer is an established electrical manufacturer and turnkey electrification contractor, founded in 1989. The organization produces control panels, power panels, bus ducts, and related electrical systems, and has built its reputation on quality, durability, reliability, and continued improvement. Its products have been tested by CPRI, Bhopal for several performance parameters, including short-circuit capacity, busbar temperature rise, and IP-55 protection. The company also carries out turnkey work such as cable laying and terminations, panel and busduct installation and commissioning, earthing station setup and testing, and industrial and commercial electrification.

What the role involves

• Build a solid working knowledge of industrial and engineering products such as control panels, MCC panels, power panels, APFC panels, and AMF panels.
• Prepare quotations and tender submissions with accurate estimates, general arrangement drawings, SLDs, control circuits, and power circuit diagrams.
• Work out panel costing using the SLD and BOQ provided.
• Review tender documents, drawings, and schedules carefully before submission.
• Send enquiries to suppliers and manufacturers and compare quotations received.
• Carry out value-engineering studies when a project must align with a client’s budget.
• Prepare detailed estimates for electrification and control panel projects, including multi-discipline concept and definitive cost estimates for capital projects.
• Support tender compilation and pre-qualification documentation, including standard and project-specific questionnaires.
• Coordinate with draftsmen for quantity take-offs and verify quantities.
• Maintain ISO documentation, records, and supplier/manufacturer databases.
• Manage customer relationships by providing timely support and service.
• Be prepared to stay beyond office hours when assigned work is still pending and handle pressure effectively.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, control panels, and power panels.
• Hands-on familiarity with AutoCAD.
• Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation products.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills, with fluent English.
• Working knowledge of MS Office.
• Hardworking attitude and ability to perform under stress and pressure.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Additional information

The probation period for this role is 6 months. Candidates are expected to share their current CTC, expected CTC, and notice period when responding.
