Role Overview
The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer is hiring a Deli Clerk for its Chop Shop team in Victoria, BC. This role focuses on maintaining the quality and attractive display of a carefully chosen range of fresh and cured meats, specialty cheeses, and house-made salads. The position is available as either full-time or part-time.

What You Will Do
- Assist customers at both the fresh and cured meat counters.
- Deliver courteous, professional, and attentive service.
- Weigh, package, and label products accurately for retail customers.
- Follow all food safety and handling rules and store procedures.
- Support the making of in-house salads, sandwiches, and sauces.
- Build product knowledge so you can guide customers toward the best choices for their needs.
- Maintain high standards for freshness and product quality.

Across both markets, the company offers a wide range of locally grown, organic, and conventional produce, along with a full-service butcher and deli, artisanal groceries, dairy, fresh bread, and bulk foods. What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate enjoys great local food and takes pride in excellent customer service. Experience in the food industry is helpful, though training can be provided to someone with the right attitude.
Working Style and Availability
You should be comfortable working in a busy, high-volume environment and able to switch between tasks efficiently. Strong teamwork and clear communication are important. The schedule may include morning, mid-day, or afternoon/evening shifts.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Food preparation experience and knife skills are considered an advantage.
