Role overview
Secure State is expanding its team and is hiring Cyber Security Consultants across multiple levels. Applications are welcome from professionals who are starting out in cyber security through to seasoned senior specialists.
The team is interested in people with experience in cyber security, IT, governance, risk and compliance, penetration testing, security assessments, or technical consulting.
What the role involves
In this position, you will help clients deliver a wide variety of security initiatives, such as cyber maturity reviews, compliance preparation, technical security improvements, risk evaluations, policy creation, security testing, remediation planning, and advisory support.
You will work with organisations in sectors including defence, professional services, not-for-profit, healthcare, critical infrastructure, and small to medium businesses. There is also scope for a managerial position within the cyber and governance projects team.
Possible responsibilities
- Carry out cyber security gap analyses
- Support readiness work for Essential Eight, ISO 27001, DISP, ISM, or CMMC
- Provide consulting across governance, risk, and compliance matters
- Develop security policies and procedures
- Perform technical security reviews and help plan remediation
- Assist with penetration testing or vulnerability assessments
- Run client workshops, prepare reports, and provide advisory guidance
- Help clients strengthen their overall security posture
Candidate profile
The company is looking for practical, client-oriented people who are eager to learn. You may be early in your cyber career, already working as a consultant, or an experienced specialist seeking a new challenge.
Experience in any of the following areas would be a strong advantage:
- Cyber security consulting
- IT systems, networking, or cloud environments
- Governance, risk, and compliance
- Security requirements in the defence sector
- Essential Eight, ISO 27001, DISP, CMMC, or ISM
- Vulnerability assessments or penetration testing
- Report preparation and client communication
