Role overview

Betsson Group is hiring a Cricket Trader to join its sportsbook operation in Malta. This role offers the opportunity to build a career in iGaming within a fast-moving, high-energy environment, based in one of Europe’s sunniest destinations and a major centre for sports betting.

The position is centered on trading cricket odds across both pre-match and in-play markets. Cricket will be the main area of focus, spanning formats and competitions such as IPL, T20 leagues, Test matches, and other major international events. The role also involves contributing to wider sportsbook products when needed.

The working model is hybrid: 2 days per week can be worked remotely, while 3 days per week are spent in the Malta office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage cricket trading activity across pre-match and live markets.
• Create and maintain special markets, with an emphasis on player specials.
• Collect, organize, and assess data to strengthen pricing and support risk decisions.
• Keep the sportsbook offering broad, competitive, and customer-focused.
• Work with external providers to ensure fixtures are mapped correctly and formatted properly.
• Track exposure and match outcomes carefully to improve risk control and identify betting patterns.
• Monitor market movements around the world as well as competitor behaviour.
• Log errors clearly and resolve settlement-related issues promptly.
• Support colleagues across the wider sportsbook team on other sports when required.
• Share ideas and feedback to help improve the cricket product and assist with provider testing.
• Review live bets to detect sharp action, arbitrage behaviour, and possible suspicious activity.

What the role requires

• Strong understanding and enthusiasm for cricket, including tournaments such as the IPL, Big Bash League, The Ashes, ICC World Cups, The Hundred, PSL, and international Test and ODI series.
• Good grasp of numerical reasoning, probability, risk allocation, and cricket statistics such as strike rates and the DLS method.
• Previous exposure to third-party trading tools would be an advantage.
• Solid analytical and quantitative skills.
• Excellent command of Microsoft Excel and general computer tools.
• Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
• Well-developed communication, organisation, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong spoken and written English.
• Energetic, self-driven, and comfortable working in a team environment.
• Willingness to work evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Must already be based in Malta or be open to relocation, with relocation assistance available.
