Role overview

Holston Medical Group, part of the Optum family of businesses, is hiring a Courier for its multispecialty care network serving northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia. The organization blends a community-focused approach with the scale and support of a large national health care system. This role supports the movement of containers, mail, packages, deposits, and other materials between HMG locations while helping keep operations organized, secure, and on schedule.

Key duties

• Pick up containers in different sizes and weights and deliver them to the required HMG sites.
• Transport bank bags containing cash and check deposits securely and ensure they reach ADMIN in time for daily bank deposits.
• Keep all items locked and protected inside the company vehicle during transit.
• Use straps, tie-downs, ropes, or similar methods to prevent shifting and damage while driving between HMG locations.
• Prepare all required paperwork for supply deliveries.
• Clean the company vehicle and carry out routine pre-trip checks.
• Collect mail from each satellite office and bring it to the mailroom for sorting, posting, and mailing.
• Help with sorting and posting mail when needed.
• Support customer satisfaction efforts and pass any issues or concerns to management.
• Help keep the mailroom neat, organized, and well maintained.
• Assist Materials Management with special projects as required.
• Serve as backup to the receiving clerk for mail and package deliveries within the central HMG location.
• Maintain a polished, professional, and well-groomed appearance that represents Holston Medical Group appropriately at all times.

Requirements

• High school education or an equivalent qualification is required.
• Strong attention to detail is needed.
• Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of residence is mandatory.
• No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years, regardless of vehicle type.
• No at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, regardless of vehicle type.
• No convictions in the past 7 years for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
• No convictions in the past 7 years for leaving the scene of an accident involving a commercial motor vehicle.
• No more than one excessive speeding violation (15 mph or more above the posted limit).
• No convictions in the past 7 years for reckless driving.
• No convictions in the past 7 years for vehicular manslaughter or vehicular homicide.
• No convictions in the past 7 years for eluding a police officer.
• No convictions in the past 7 years for operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.
• No felony convictions or other criminal convictions involving confinement.

Physical requirements

This position involves a mix of walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. The role requires the ability to move or lift up to 60 pounds and may include occasional pressure from managing several tasks at once. The employee will regularly use their hands for handling objects, reach with arms, and frequently stand, walk, sit, and communicate verbally. The job may also require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, along with close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
