Role overview
This position sits within the Capital Markets Technology function at CIBC. The consultant will support advanced data analytics delivery, research, and insight generation to help senior leaders make well-informed business decisions. The role combines analytical depth with practical AI solution building to turn data into actionable recommendations.
You will work in a hybrid setup, with 2 to 3 days each week on site and the remaining time remote.
Key responsibilities
- Use advanced statistical and machine learning methods to support predictive and prescriptive analysis.
- Create clear, interactive dashboards and reports with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Python-based visualization libraries.
- Develop AI agents that help automate insight generation and improve decision support.
- Work closely with data engineers, AI specialists, and business partners to ensure solutions align with governance, compliance, and innovation goals.
- Assess business problems, analyze impact, and recommend practical AI-enabled solutions.
Experience and background
The role calls for 3 to 5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related area. You should have at least 2 years of experience with Azure Databricks, 1 to 2 years using GenAI tools such as Microsoft Co-Pilot Studio, and at least 4 years working with SQL and Python. Experience with C#, Power BI, and Capital Markets or Equities is considered an advantage.
A degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, engineering, physics, or business is preferred, though equivalent practical experience may also be accepted.
Skills and capabilities
You should bring strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making ability, along with the confidence to identify issues independently and recommend solutions. Familiarity with enterprise IT environments and how business processes connect across a line of business is important. The right candidate will be collaborative, influential, digitally adaptable, and comfortable working with evolving tools and technologies.
