Department Overview
The Boston Red Sox Community Relations team works to make a meaningful difference across communities in New England and Southwest Florida. Through year-round programs and events, the group supports youth development, creates memorable moments for hospital patients, recognizes military members and veterans, and helps uplift underserved communities. The team’s work is centered on baseball’s power to bring people together around shared values and community causes.
Position Overview
The Community Relations Assistant will support the department with day-to-day administrative work and help coordinate ad hoc projects and assignments as needed. This is a part-time onsite role based in Boston, MA, and it runs through the calendar year. The pay rate for this position is $17 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to Community Relations communications across phone lines, USPS mail, email, and voicemail.
- Process in-kind donation requests and keep the inventory of autographed items up to date.
- Support game day and non-game day field events by handling logistics, arranging and overseeing equipment, and coordinating with nonprofit partners on their needs.
- Help promote Community Relations events and initiatives.
- Welcome community groups to the ballpark and provide guided tours.
- Assist with the distribution of community tickets.
- Organize and track photos from Community Relations events and contribute to storytelling for the annual report.
- Support written materials such as player outreach nominations, newsletters, and related projects.
Qualifications
- A strong dedication to delivering excellent customer service.
- Experience with Canva, graphic design, and AI-based tools is highly preferred.
- Ability to protect confidential and private information, including company records and documents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Comfort with multitasking, solving problems, and responding to unexpected situations.
- Previous experience in fast-moving, loosely structured, and frequently changing environments.
- Professional appearance and polished phone etiquette.
- Ability to collaborate well, maintain positive working relationships, and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Willingness to work nights, holidays, and weekends when required.
