Descrizione del lavoro

The role

As a Care Partner, you will play a key role in improving the day-to-day wellbeing of residents living with dementia. This position is different from a standard HCA or DT role because it is driven by the resident’s preferences and needs. You will work alongside residents to support personal care, encourage meaningful engagement, and help create moments that build dignity, connection, and enrichment.

You will also collaborate with residents and their whānau, providing thoughtful and compassionate support that values both the individual and their family. Each day will involve helping people living with dementia live with greater comfort, purpose, and connection through strong relationships and personalised care.

What the role involves

  • Helping residents take part in activities that matter to them personally.
  • Encouraging residents through a strengths-focused approach.
  • Supporting residents across a broad range of daily needs, from personal care assistance to organising outings and activity-based experiences that improve quality of life.
  • Working closely with residents, families/whānau, and other team members to deliver care that is tailored to each resident’s individual care plan.

What you will bring

  • Genuine motivation to support people living with dementia in maintaining their abilities and independence for as long as possible.
  • A warm, compassionate, and patient attitude, along with a willingness to help.
  • Strong interpersonal ability and empathy when working with residents living with dementia and their families.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility and an open-minded approach while still following company policies and procedures.
  • Good multitasking ability and effective time management.
  • A current driver’s licence would be an advantage, though it is not essential.
